Kia India recently unveiled the highly anticipated Seltos facelift, bringing a host of exciting updates to the popular SUV. The facelift not only introduces a new turbo-petrol engine but also includes several additional features. This article delves into the details of the Seltos facelift, its enhanced design, interior upgrades, powertrain options, and its position among its competitors.
Kia Seltos Facelift Exterior Design
In terms of exterior design, the Seltos facelift showcases several notable changes. The front fascia features a slightly larger bumper and body-colored inserts in the fog lamp housing. The redesigned headlights now incorporate new LED daytime running lamps that extend into the grille, complementing the four-block design of the fog lamps. On the sides, the facelifted Seltos boasts striking 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, similar to the international-spec model. At the rear, new inverted L-shaped tail-lights, seen on other Kia models, are connected by an LED light bar. Additionally, the Seltos now offers sequential turn indicators, and the reverse light has been relocated to the redesigned bumper. The refreshed tailgate design features fewer chrome accents than its predecessor.
Kia Seltos Facelift Interior and Features
Inside the cabin, the Seltos facelift provides an upgraded experience with a dual-screen setup. Two 10.25-inch displays take center stage, with one serving as the digital instrument cluster and the other as the infotainment touchscreen. The center console has undergone a refresh, featuring slimmer AC vents and a redesigned panel for HVAC and audio controls. The X Line trim receives an elegant sage green interior, while the GT Line variants sport a new black and white theme.
When it comes to features, the Seltos facelift impresses with a range of enhancements. Dual-zone climate control ensures optimum comfort for both the driver and passengers. A panoramic sunroof brings a sense of openness and spaciousness to the cabin. The addition of an 8-inch heads-up display enhances the driver’s convenience and safety. Audiophiles will appreciate the Bose-tuned 8-speaker system, further enhanced by mood lamps that create an immersive sound experience. Safety is paramount in the Seltos facelift, with 17 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) functions, including forward collision warning assist, blind spot collision warning, and lane keep assist. Additionally, the SUV comes equipped with standard six airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, electronic stability control (ESC), and Hill Assist Control.
Kia Seltos Facelift Powertrains
Under the hood, the Seltos facelift retains the reliable powertrains of its predecessor while introducing a new turbo-petrol engine. The 1.5-liter petrol engine delivers 115hp and 144Nm of torque and is available with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT. On the other hand, the 1.5-liter turbo-diesel engine produces 115hp and 250Nm of torque, offering options of a 6-speed intelligent manual transmission (iMT) or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Kia has reintroduced a turbo-petrol powertrain with the Seltos facelift, replacing the previous 1.4-liter turbo-petrol engine. The new 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine generates an impressive 160hp and 253Nm of torque, providing a significant boost in performance compared to its predecessor. This engine is paired with either a 6-speed intelligent manual transmission (iMT) or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Kia Seltos Facelift Launch and Competitors
The Seltos facelift’s launch marks an exciting chapter in the highly competitive midsize SUV segment. Positioned to rival notable contenders such as the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, MG Astor, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, as well as the upcoming Honda Elevate and Citroen C3 Aircross, the Seltos facelift aims to captivate car enthusiasts with its superior features, refreshed design, and enhanced powertrain options.
