The upcoming Hyundai Exter is a sport utility vehicle that will be launched in India in 2023, expectedly during the festive season. With this new addition, Hyundai Motor India is all set to strengthen its SUV portfolio, which already boasts of popular models like Venue, Venue N Line, Creta, Alcazar, Tucson, Kona Electric, and Ioniq 5. The Exter will be a strong competitor to the Tata Punch, which has been creating waves in the Indian market.
Based on the same platform as the Hyundai Aura and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, the Exter is likely to be powered by the 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine. This engine, which also powers the Aura and Grand i10 Nios, produces a maximum power of 83PS and peak torque of 113.8Nm. The transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed automated manual.
Hyundai might also offer a CNG option for the Exter, as the 1.2-litre Kappa unit already has a bi-fuel choice of petrol and CNG. However, in the CNG mode, the power and torque figures get reduced to 69PS and 95.2Nm, respectively, and there is only a 5-speed manual transmission on offer.

Like other Hyundai SUVs, the Exter is expected to come loaded with class-leading features such as LED headlights and taillights, an electric sunroof, touchscreen infotainment, automatic climate control, and a wireless charger.
When it comes to pricing, the Exter is expected to be priced between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom), making it a direct competitor to the Tata Punch, which is priced between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 9.47 lakh (ex-showroom).
In conclusion, the Hyundai Exter SUV is a highly anticipated addition to the Indian market, and with its impressive features, it has the potential to give a tough competition to its rivals. If you are looking for a stylish, reliable and feature-packed SUV, the Exter could be the one to watch out for in the coming months.
