Hyundai Motor India is set to make a grand entrance into the micro SUV market with its latest offering, the Hyundai Exter. Scheduled to hit the showrooms on July 10th, 2023, this compact powerhouse is creating quite a buzz. With an impressive lineup of variants and engine options, the Exter promises to be a game-changer in its segment. In addition, Hyundai has taken safety to the next level by incorporating several innovative features, making it a standout contender. Let’s dive into the details and explore what the Hyundai Exter has to offer.
Hyundai Exter: Variant Details
The Hyundai Exter boasts a diverse model lineup consisting of 15 variants, catering to different preferences and driving needs. These variants are classified into six trims: EX, EX (O), S, S (O), SX, and SX (O) Connect. Among the 15 variants, eight are equipped with a petrol manual transmission, five have a petrol automatic transmission, and two feature a CNG setup.
Powerful Performance
Under the hood, the Exter houses a robust 1.2L petrol engine, generating an impressive power output of 83bhp and a torque of 114Nm. Drivers have the option to choose between a 5-speed manual gearbox and an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission). The CNG variant, which also features the 1.2L petrol engine, comes equipped with a factory-fitted CNG kit. This setup offers a slightly lower power output of around 69bhp and a torque of 95.2Nm. Notably, all trims, except the EX variant, are equipped with the AMT unit, providing a seamless driving experience.

Stunning Exterior
The Hyundai Exter comes in six stunning monotone exterior colors: Ranger Khaki, Starry Night, Cosmic Blue, Atlas White, Titan Grey, and Fiery Red. For those seeking a touch of elegance, the option of dual-tone shades is available with Cosmic Blue, Atlas White, and Ranger Khaki. It’s important to note that the dual-tone colors are exclusively reserved for the petrol variants, adding an extra dash of style to this micro SUV.
Pre-Booking and Pricing
If you’re captivated by the allure of the Hyundai Exter, you can secure your booking by paying a token sum of Rs 11,000 at any authorized Hyundai dealership. This micro SUV is not only the smallest but also the most affordable SUV offering from Hyundai in India. Although the official price announcement is set for next month, industry insiders speculate that the base EX manual variant will start from approximately Rs 6 lakh. On the other hand, the range-topping SX (O) Connect AMT is expected to carry a price tag of around Rs 10 lakh. If these price points hold true, the Exter will position itself to compete with a range of vehicles, including the Tata Punch (a direct rival), Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, and even some premium hatchbacks.

As Hyundai Motor India ventures into the micro SUV market with the highly anticipated Exter, car enthusiasts and SUV lovers are eagerly awaiting its arrival. With an extensive lineup of variants, an impressive engine, and a range of safety features, the Exter promises to set new benchmarks in its segment. As we inch closer to the launch date, keep an eye out for the official price announcement, as it will undoubtedly play a crucial role in determining the success of this exciting new micro SUV from Hyundai.
