Kia India recently announced its sales for March 2023, and the numbers indicate a mixed performance for its models. While the Sonet saw a significant YoY growth, the Seltos, Carens, and Carnival reported a decline in sales. Here’s a breakdown of the numbers:
Sales Figures for March 2023
In March 2023, Kia India sold 21,501 units, which is a 4.96 percent YoY de-growth compared to 22,622 units sold in March 2022. Additionally, MoM sales also fell significantly by 12.60 percent from 24,600 units sold in Feb 2023.
Sales Figures for Q1 2023
Taking into account the sales figures for Q1 2023, Kia India sold a total of 74,735 units, which allowed the company to record its highest ever market share of 7.4 percent. This is a 24.4 percent growth compared to sales in Q4 21-22. The Carens reported its highest ever sales during this quarter, and the company’s exports also improved by 22 percent.
Sales Breakup for March 2023
The Sonet was the top-selling model for Kia India in March 2023, with 8,677 units sold. This represents a 26.28 percent YoY growth compared to 6,871 units sold in March 2022. The Seltos came in second, with YoY and MoM de-growth of 22.12 percent and 18.20 percent, respectively. The Carens saw a YoY de-growth of 12.93 percent, while the Carnival’s YoY and MoM sales dipped significantly by 48.78 percent and 66.67 percent, respectively.
The current number of touch points in Kia India’s dealership network is 425, spanning across 213 cities in India. The company has also refreshed its engine lineup across all models to be RDE compliant and adhere to the Government of India’s Phase II BS6 emission standards.
While the Sonet continues to be a strong performer for Kia India, the declining sales figures for the Seltos, Carens, and Carnival are a cause for concern. It will be interesting to see how the company responds to these numbers in the coming months.
