Lamborghini Urus S Launched in India at Rs 4.18 Crore: A Closer Look at the Beast's Features
Italian luxury sports car maker Automobili Lamborghini has launched the Urus S in India, the successor to the original Urus. With a price tag of Rs 4.18 crore (ex-showroom), this tamer version of the Urus SUV is more affordable than the Urus Performante but costlier than the outgoing Urus.
Powertrain
Under the hood, the Lamborghini Urus S boasts the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine as its predecessor, but with an increased power output of 666bhp and 850Nm of torque. This powerhouse can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in just 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 305kmph. It also features an 8-speed transmission and all-wheel drive.

Exterior Tweaks
The Urus S sports a few design tweaks, such as a new front bumper with a matt black-painted steel skid plate and a carbon-fibre bonnet with new air vents. The SUV can also be customized with a carbon-fibre roof. At the back, the Urus S showcases a fresh bumper design, featuring a matte black lower section and twin-pipe exhaust outlets in brushed steel that come as a standard feature. The SUV comes with 21-inch wheels as standard but buyers can choose from 22- or 23-inch wheels, each with customizable finishes.

Drive Modes
The Lamborghini Urus S provides various driving modes that modify the performance of the drivetrain and other mechanical components. These modes consist of Strada (for street driving), Sport, Corsa (for track use), Sabbia (for sand), Terra (for dirt), and Neve (for snow). The SUV also features adaptive air suspension, providing a more comfortable ride compared to the Urus Performante’s coil-spring suspension, which is stiffer and provides better performance and stability for a sportier drive.
Stephan Winkelmann, who serves as the Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, stated that the Urus S is an ideal complement to the new Urus Performante for those who seek the ultimate combination of performance, luxury, and versatility. He also highlighted that the Urus has been a commercial triumph, with over 20,000 units manufactured, and it continues to be recognized as the original and long-lasting Super SUV. Winkelmann believes that the Urus S further enhances the Urus’ reputation.

Final Thoughts
The Lamborghini Urus S is a more affordable version of the Urus Performante, designed for a more comfortable experience. It boasts the same powerful engine as its predecessor but offers a few tweaks to the exterior and suspension. With multiple drive modes available, the Urus S is a versatile SUV that can handle any terrain. Although it may be a bit costlier than the outgoing Urus, its features and performance make it an attractive option for those seeking a luxurious yet powerful ride.
