The Maruti Suzuki eVX, an upcoming electric SUV, has commenced its testing phase, revealing intriguing insights into its interior. This innovative vehicle exhibits design similarities with other contemporary Maruti Suzuki cars such as the Fronx and Grand Vitara.
Concept EV Debut at Auto Expo 2023
At the Auto Expo 2023, Maruti Suzuki introduced the eVX as a concept electric vehicle (EV). However, the company has since initiated the development of the production version of the eVX, signifying its potential as Maruti’s first electric car. Although the anticipated launch is set for 2025, a prototype test mule has recently been spotted undergoing tests overseas.
Spy Shots Unveil Noteworthy Features

The spy shots of the eVX prototype showcase the removal of unrealistic concept elements, like the extravagant wheels and cameras for outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs). The vehicle is heavily camouflaged, concealing its true appearance. However, certain details are discernible, including temporary headlights and taillights, a chrome bar on the grille reminiscent of the Maruti Grand Vitara and Fronx, and a concealed closed-off grille.
Continuing the design cues from the Fronx, the eVX boasts pronounced shoulder lines and a sleek sloping roofline. The test mule is equipped with silver-finished alloy wheels, muscular wheel arches, rear pillar-mounted door handles, and ORVM-mounted side cameras, indicating the potential inclusion of a 360-degree camera system. Although the rear section remains hidden under heavy camouflage, glimpses of the rear wiper and connected LED lighting arrangement are visible, with the number plate positioned on the bumper.
Insights into the Cabin

The captured images provide an exclusive glimpse into the eVX’s interior. Notably, the presence of connected screens within the cabin sets it apart from other Maruti Suzuki cars in India. Additionally, the eVX features a distinct squared-off steering wheel with integrated controls. Further examination reveals a lengthy center console extending to the dashboard and vertically stacked AC vents. The lower central console offers ample storage space, while the driver’s seat incorporates power adjustment functionality.
Electric Powertrain Specifications
Although detailed information regarding the production version of the eVX’s electric powertrain remains scarce, Maruti Suzuki revealed during the Auto Expo 2023 that it will be equipped with a 60kWh battery pack, providing an estimated range of up to 550km. Furthermore, the eVX will feature a dual-motor setup, enabling a robust 4×4 drivetrain.
Anticipated Launch and Pricing
Maruti Suzuki plans to launch the eVX in India by 2025, with an expected starting price of approximately Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom). This electric SUV will compete against established contenders such as the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric, offering a premium alternative to the Mahindra XUV400 and Tata Nexon EV Max.
