Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest carmaker, has recently launched its first model for 2023, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx crossover. The Fronx is based on the popular Baleno hatchback and is equipped with two petrol engine options, the 1.2-litre K-series engine and the 1.0-litre ‘Boosterjet’ turbo-petrol. With the launch of the Fronx, Maruti Suzuki aims to tap into the growing demand for compact crossovers in India.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx Variants and Price
The Fronx is available in both the 1.2-litre and Boosterjet variants, with the former having a price range of Rs 7.46 lakh to Rs 9.27 lakh and the latter starting at Rs 9.72 lakh and going up to Rs 12.97 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom). The Fronx 1.2-litre comes in three trims, the entry-level Sigma, mid-spec Delta and Delta Plus. Those seeking fully-loaded trims will have to opt for the Boosterjet version, which is available in Delta Plus, Zeta, and range-topping Alpha trims.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx Features
The Fronx has a crossover-like feel with 20mm more ground clearance than the Baleno, and at 1,550mm, it is slightly taller. It has a completely different tail section and takes inspiration from the bigger Grand Vitara SUV in terms of its face. The top-spec Fronx Alpha comes with a 9.0-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system, Arkamys Surround Sense sound system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging, head-up display, 360-degree cameras, cruise control, connected car tech, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, and rear AC vents.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx Powertrains
Under the hood, the Fronx comes with two engine options, the 1.2-litre K-series engine and the 1.0-litre ‘Boosterjet’ turbo-petrol. The 1.2-litre engine produces a maximum power of 89hp and a peak torque of 113Nm, while the Boosterjet engine churns out a maximum power of 99hp and a peak torque of 160Nm. Both engines are available with a manual transmission or an AGS (Auto Gear Shift) transmission.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx Safety
The Fronx is equipped with safety features such as six airbags, electronic stability program (ESP), and hill hold assist. The Fronx Alpha variant is also equipped with a host of features like a head-up display, 360-degree cameras, and a SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system. The Fronx has an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 22.89 kpl for the 1.2-litre MT version and 21.79 kpl for the AGS version.
Maruti Suzuki’s latest offering, the Fronx crossover, is an excellent choice for customers who are looking for a stylish and practical crossover that is easy to drive in the city and offers good fuel efficiency. With its strong foothold in the Indian automotive market, Maruti Suzuki is known for offering affordable and reliable vehicles, and the Fronx is no exception. The Fronx is expected to be a popular choice for customers seeking a crossover that offers a perfect blend of practicality, style, and performance.
