Maruti Suzuki India has announced a recall of 7,213 units of the now-discontinued Baleno RS due to a potential defect in the vacuum pump that aids brake function. The recalled vehicles were produced between October 27, 2016, and November 1, 2019.
Possible Brake Function Defect Maruti Suzuki’s official statement revealed that there is a suspected defect in the vacuum pump, which could cause a rare case where the affected vehicle may require increased effort to apply the brake pedal.
Free of Cost Replacement of Defective Parts The company stated that owners of affected vehicles will receive communication from Maruti Suzuki’s authorized dealer workshops for the replacement of defective parts, free of cost.
Baleno RS Discontinued Before BS6 Phase 1 Emission Norms Launched in March 2017, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS was discontinued in January 2020, well before the April 2020 implementation of the BS6 Phase 1 emission norms. The Baleno RS boasted a 3-cylinder 1.0-litre Boosterjet DITC petrol engine, which produced a maximum power of 102hp and a peak torque of 150Nm. The vehicle had a claimed mileage of 21.1kmpl, and a 5-speed manual transmission came as standard.
Maruti Suzuki’s recall of the Baleno RS is a proactive measure taken to ensure the safety of drivers and passengers. The company’s prompt action demonstrates its commitment to delivering high-quality products and services to its customers. If you own a Baleno RS manufactured between October 27, 2016, and November 1, 2019, be sure to take your vehicle to an authorized dealer workshop to receive a free-of-cost replacement of defective parts.
