Maruti to Launch Toyota Innova Hycross in India

In a major move, Maruti Suzuki India is set to launch the Toyota Innova Hycross under its brand name within the next two months. The company aims to offer its customers a top-of-the-line, strong-hybrid three-row model, making it their flagship offering. This launch is set to shake up the Indian automobile market and create a new benchmark for premium vehicles in the country.

The Innova Hycross was initially launched in India by Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) in December 2022 and has already garnered significant attention from customers. With a price range between Rs 18.55 lakh and Rs 29.72 lakh (ex-showroom), this premium multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) is available in six variants – G, GX, VX, VX(O), ZX, and ZX(O). However, TKM recently halted bookings for the top variants, ZX and ZX(O), due to supply challenges.

Maruti Chairman R C Bhargava announced the company’s plan to launch the Toyota Innova Hycross during the annual financial results press conference. He also revealed that this vehicle will sit above the Grand Vitara and be the largest carmaker’s flagship offering. Bhargava mentioned that the Toyota-sourced vehicle would be a strong-hybrid, top-of-the-line model, and would be introduced in the next two months.

When asked about TKM’s supply challenges, Bhargava confirmed that Maruti has an agreement with Toyota, wherein a certain number of vehicles will be supplied to them, even if there is a shortage. This agreement is mutual, and both companies make adjustments to their requirements. Hence, Maruti will be able to launch the Innova Hycross under its umbrella, despite Toyota’s supply constraints.

The launch of the Toyota Innova Hycross under Maruti’s brand name is a game-changer in the Indian automobile industry. The top-of-the-line premium vehicle is expected to sell around 7,000 to 10,000 units annually. Even though Maruti is known for its compact cars like the WagonR, the introduction of the Innova Hycross will establish the company as a leader in the premium segment.

In conclusion, the upcoming launch of the Toyota Innova Hycross by Maruti Suzuki India is a significant milestone for the Indian automobile industry. It will not only increase Maruti’s brand presence in the premium segment but also bring a new benchmark for strong-hybrid, three-row vehicles in the country. This move is a testament to Maruti’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction.
