Maruti to Unveil Premium MPV Based on Toyota Innova Hycross on July 5

Maruti Suzuki India is all set to unveil its latest premium multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) on July 5. This highly anticipated MPV will be based on the popular Toyota Innova Hycross. While the Maruti MPV will share some similarities with its Toyota counterpart, it will also feature unique exterior elements that set it apart. In this article, we will explore the upcoming Maruti MPV and the key differentiating factors that make it an exciting addition to the market.

Distinctive Design Elements

The Maruti MPV will showcase a distinctive design language that distinguishes it from the Toyota Innova Hycross. Although both models share a common platform, Maruti has made notable exterior modifications to give the MPV its own identity. Expect to see a slightly redesigned grille, as well as updates to the headlights, taillights, and brand logos. While the Toyota model proudly bears the Toyota emblem, the Maruti MPV will feature the iconic Suzuki logo.

Unveiling at Nexa Dealerships

Maruti will exclusively sell the premium MPV through its prestigious Nexa dealerships. Nexa is known for its range of premium offerings, including popular models like the Ignis, Baleno, Ciaz, XL6, Fronx, Grand Vitara, and the recently-launched 5-door Jimny. By introducing the Maruti MPV through Nexa, the company aims to create a luxurious and high-end buying experience for its customers.

Chairman's Announcement

During Maruti’s annual financial results press conference in April, Chairman R C Bhargava hinted at the arrival of this new MPV. He stated that Maruti would introduce a three-row strong-hybrid model, sourced from Toyota. Bhargava emphasized that the upcoming MPV would be positioned as a top-of-the-line offering in terms of price. Customers can expect this highly awaited vehicle to hit the market in approximately two months, fulfilling the company’s commitment to innovation and premium offerings.

The Toyota Innova Hycross Legacy

The Toyota Innova Hycross made its debut in the Indian market in December 2022 and has been well-received by customers seeking a reliable and feature-rich MPV. Currently priced between Rs 18.55 lakh and Rs 29.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Innova Hycross offers two engine options: the 2.0-litre VVTi petrol and the 2.0-litre VVTi petrol with the fifth-generation SHEV system. The model boasts six variants, namely G, GX, VX, VX(O), ZX, and ZX(O). However, due to supply challenges, bookings for the top variants (ZX and ZX(O)) have been temporarily halted.

With the impending launch of the Maruti MPV, based on the Toyota Innova Hycross, car enthusiasts and potential buyers can look forward to an exceptional offering in the premium MPV segment. Maruti’s careful attention to distinctive design elements ensures that the MPV will stand out on the roads. By leveraging the expertise and reputation of both Maruti and Toyota, this cross-badged MPV promises to deliver a remarkable driving experience. As we await the official unveiling on July 5, it’s evident that Maruti’s foray into the premium MPV market will leave a lasting impression on car enthusiasts across the country.
