Mercedes-Benz has introduced the first-ever fully electric vehicle to don the Maybach badge at the Auto Shanghai 2023 in China – the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 electric SUV. With its exceptional luxury features and futuristic design, the Maybach EQS 680 is set to make waves in the world of electric vehicles. Here are five cool facts you need to know about this ultra-luxurious e-SUV.
Bespoke Maybach Exterior Features

The Maybach EQS 680 boasts a stunning two-tone paint job with a filigree pinstripe, but it’s the exterior design that sets it apart from the rest of the Mercedes EQ range. The black panel “grille” at the front, which is a hallmark of all Mercedes EQ models, is adorned with vertical chrome elements, similar to what we see on Maybach’s ICE cars. Additionally, the side air dams feature multiple tiny Maybach logos, while the enormous wheels in seven-spoke and five-spoke designs give the vehicle a commanding presence on the road.
Ultra-Luxurious Interior
The Maybach EQS 680’s interior is where it truly shines. The MBUX Hyperscreen is decked out in a deep blue theme, with rose-gold trim and Maybach-specific ambient lighting adding a touch of elegance. The seats are upholstered in man-made Nappa leather, and the cabin is accentuated by natural wood trim. The Maybach logo is prominently displayed on the seats and trim pieces and is even projected onto the floor for the rear occupants’ viewing pleasure. The vehicle’s equipment list is equally impressive, including a Burmester 4D sound system, ventilated, massaging rear seats with neck and shoulder heating and calf massaging, and two 11.6-inch rear-facing touchscreens.

Features and Equipment
The Maybach EQS 680 boasts an extensive equipment list, with highlights that include a Maybach MBUX Hyperscreen, two 11.6-inch rear-facing touchscreens, and ventilated, massaging rear seats with neck and shoulder heating and calf massaging. With the Chauffeur Package, the front seat can be moved at the touch of a button to open up even more rear space. The vehicle can also be equipped with a drinks cooler, folding rear tables, and silver-plated champagne goblets, making it the ultimate luxury vehicle for long trips.
All-Electric Drivetrain Specs
The Maybach EQS 680 is powered by a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system that produces 658PS and 950Nm, providing a nought to 100kmph acceleration time of just 4.4 seconds, comparable to ICE cars. The vehicle is estimated to have a driving range of up to 600km and can be charged from 10-80% in just 31 minutes at a peak charging rate of 200kW.

Launch Timeline and Rivals
Mercedes has not yet revealed the Maybach EQS 680’s launch timeline, but we can expect it to go on sale in Europe in 2023, with an Indian launch likely to follow in 2024. The Maybach EQS 680 will sit alongside the ICE S-Class sedans and GLS 600 SUV in the carmaker’s Maybach lineup and is set to compete against luxury SUVs such as the Bentley Bentayga and upcoming ultra-luxury EVs such as the Rolls-Royce Spectre EV.
