MG Motors India is preparing to launch its fifth model, the MG Comet, an affordable electric vehicle (EV) in India.
The company has already announced the name of the vehicle and while technical specifications and features remain undisclosed, there are a few things we do know.
The MG Comet EV will be launched in India in the second quarter of 2023, most likely in April.
The price range for the Comet is expected to be between Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom), making it a reasonably priced EV.
The MG Comet is a three-door EV and is essentially a rebadged version of the Wuling Air EV, which is currently available in the Indonesian market.
MG Comet Features
The car will have a full-LED lighting setup, with LED headlights and taillights, and will be based on 13-inch wheels.
The interior will feature a 10.25-inch infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, alongside connected car technology.
In terms of specifications, the MG Comet is anticipated to have a 50kW motor, paired with a 25kWh battery, with a range of approximately 250km on a single full charge.
MG Comet Rivals
The MG Comet EV will be competing against other affordable EVs like the Tata Tiago.ev and the Citroen e-C3. The Tata Tiago.ev is priced between Rs 8.69 lakh and Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Citroen e-C3 sits in the price range of Rs 11.50 lakh to Rs 12.43 lakh (ex-showroom).
The MG Comet will add to the already extensive portfolio of MG Motor India, which includes the Astor, Hector, Gloster, and ZS EV. We eagerly await the launch of this new affordable EV that promises to deliver a greener and more sustainable future.
