The all-new MG 4 EV hatchback has been officially revealed, offering a larger body, refreshed styling, and a revised powertrain. Unveiled by a Chinese regulator, the new-generation MG 4 provides insights into its redesigned exterior and improved specifications. This new iteration comes just two years after the initial MG 4 launch, underscoring its growing popularity in Europe, even as sales in its home market remain modest. The previous MG 4 was showcased at Auto Expo 2023, as MG evaluated its potential entry into new markets.
Key Highlights of the New MG 4 EV
Larger Dimensions: Measures 4,395mm in length, with a 2,750mm wheelbase, making it bigger than Hyundai Creta.
Performance: Features a 163hp electric motor, capable of a 160kph top speed.
Undisclosed Interior: MG has yet to reveal cabin details.

New MG 4 Bigger and More Stylish
The new MG 4 EV is significantly larger than its predecessor, measuring 4,395mm in length, 1,842mm in width, and 1,551mm in height. It boasts a 2,750mm wheelbase, making it 108mm longer, 4mm wider, and 35mm taller, with an extended 45mm wheelbase. The updated size makes it larger than the Hyundai Creta and MG Windsor, positioning it among the biggest hatchbacks in its class. In European markets, its primary competitor is the Volkswagen ID.3.
Cyberster-Inspired Styling
The new MG 4 adopts several design cues from MG’s upcoming Cyberster sports EV. Notable design updates include:
Sharper, thinner LED headlights for a sleek front profile.
A bold honeycomb intake on the front bumper, enhancing aerodynamics.
Arrow-shaped LED taillights, giving the rear an aggressive, futuristic look.
Redesigned doors and rear-end, offering a more dynamic aesthetic.
Compared to the version showcased at Auto Expo 2023, this new model exudes a sportier and more premium appeal.

New MG 4 Performance and Battery Setup
While MG has not disclosed battery specifications, it is confirmed that the new MG 4 will feature a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, supplied by Rept Battero Energy. The hatchback is powered by a 163hp electric motor, enabling a 160kph top speed.
The outgoing MG 4 offered a 51kWh battery with a 350km WLTP range in its base variant, paired with a 170hp, 250Nm rear axle-mounted motor. Higher trims included 64kWh and 77kWh battery options, while the top-end AWD version boasted 435hp with dual motors. It remains to be seen whether MG will introduce similar configurations in the new-gen MG 4.

What to Expect Inside the New MG 4
Neither MG Motor nor the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has provided details on the new MG 4’s interior. However, if it follows its predecessor’s layout, we can expect:
Minimalist dashboard with horizontal lines.
Two floating digital screens for infotainment and instrumentation.
Advanced features like a 360-degree camera, ventilated seats, and ADAS.

MG 4 EV: A Strong Contender in the Electric Hatchback Segment
The next-gen MG 4 EV comes with a larger footprint, Cyberster-inspired styling, and a reworked powertrain, reinforcing its appeal in the growing electric vehicle market. With increased dimensions and a refreshed design, the MG 4 is expected to compete strongly against rivals like the Volkswagen ID.3.
Stay tuned for updates on its official launch, pricing, and interior details!
