Royal Enfield is all set to launch its much-anticipated Classic 650 on March 27, 2024. The new model is an exciting fusion of the brand’s best-selling Classic 350 and its powerful parallel-twin 648cc engine. With a design that embraces nostalgia while packing modern performance, the Classic 650 is expected to be priced similarly to the Super Meteor 650 and Shotgun 650.
Royal Enfield Classic 650: A Blend of Legacy and Power
The Classic 650 is built on the trusted underpinnings of the Shotgun 650, featuring a 19-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke wheel setup for a vintage appeal. This new entrant will be the heaviest Royal Enfield model yet, weighing 243kg, making it 2kg heavier than the Super Meteor 650 and 1kg heavier than the Shotgun 650.
Engine and Performance: Trusted 648cc Twin-Cylinder Powertrain
Under the hood, the Royal Enfield Classic 650 houses the proven 648cc air/oil-cooled parallel-twin engine, delivering 47hp of peak power and 52Nm of torque. This engine, known for its reliability and smooth power delivery, is already present in the Super Meteor 650, Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, and the upcoming Bear 650. Paired with a 6-speed gearbox, the Classic 650 promises a refined and enjoyable riding experience.
Chassis, Suspension & Braking System
The Classic 650 shares its main frame, swingarm, braking system, and twin-shock absorbers with the Shotgun 650. It features 120mm front suspension travel and 90mm rear travel, ensuring a comfortable ride. Unlike the Shotgun, which comes with 18/17-inch alloy wheels, the Classic 650 sticks to its heritage-inspired wire-spoke wheels wrapped in MRF Nylohigh tyres, specially designed for this model.
Color Options and Expected Pricing
The Royal Enfield Classic 650 will be offered in four stunning color variants:
Red
Blue
Teal
Black Chrome
When it comes to pricing, the Classic 650 is expected to fall in the same range as its siblings. For reference:
Super Meteor 650 starts at ₹3.64 lakh (ex-showroom, India)
Shotgun 650 is priced at ₹3.59 lakh (ex-showroom, India)
Final Thoughts: What to Expect from the Classic 650?
The Royal Enfield Classic 650 is shaping up to be an exciting addition to the brand’s lineup, blending classic design with modern engineering. With its retro styling, powerful 648cc engine, and sturdy build, the Classic 650 is expected to appeal to enthusiasts looking for a balance between vintage aesthetics and performance.
As the launch date approaches, Royal Enfield fans eagerly await the official pricing and complete specifications. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated motorcycle!
