Tata Motors is all set to launch the Altroz iCNG, which is expected to be equipped with a new dual-cylinder CNG set-up to preserve boot space. The carmaker has released a teaser announcing the launch of the Altroz iCNG on April 19, making it the third model in the brand’s portfolio after the Tiago and Tigor to come with a factory-fitted CNG kit. Let’s take a closer look at what the Altroz iCNG has to offer.
Powertrain and Fuel Economy
The Altroz iCNG will be powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder engine that produces 86hp and 113Nm of torque in petrol mode. In CNG mode, the power output drops to 77hp and 97Nm of torque. The engine is expected to come paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Similar to the Tiago and Tigor CNG models, the Altroz iCNG will also feature a direct start in CNG mode, a feature not offered by any of its rivals. The Tiago and Tigor CNG offer a claimed fuel economy of 26.49km/kg, and we expect the Altroz iCNG to offer a similar figure.

Design, Variants, and Features
The Altroz iCNG will retain the same design as the regular Altroz, except for the addition of the ‘iCNG’ badge on the tailgate. The car’s unique feature is its new dual-cylinder set-up in the boot, comprising two 30-litre cylinders positioned under the boot floor to free up storage space. The Altroz iCNG is expected to come in XM, XZ, and XZ+ trims, equipped with features such as a 7.0-inch touchscreen, a digital driver’s display, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a voice-activated sunroof, 16-inch alloy wheels, an engine start/stop button, automatic climate control, height-adjustable driver’s seat, leatherette seats, rear AC vents, and a front centre armrest.

Expected Price and Rivals
The Altroz iCNG is expected to cost around Rs 90,000 more than the petrol manual variant, which starts at Rs 6.45 lakh and goes up to Rs 9.10 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Upon launch, the Altroz iCNG will rival the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza CNG in the premium hatchback segment.
With the launch of the Altroz iCNG, Tata Motors has once again demonstrated its commitment to eco-friendly mobility solutions. Equipped with a new dual-cylinder CNG set-up, the Altroz iCNG promises to deliver impressive fuel economy and preserve boot space. Moreover, with its premium features and competitive pricing, the Altroz iCNG is sure to give its rivals a run for their money. So, if you’re looking for a stylish and eco-friendly hatchback, the Altroz iCNG might just be the car for you!
