March 2023 was a remarkable month for car companies in India, with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) clocking handsome volumes. As many as 3,889,545 units of passenger vehicles were sold during the fiscal year, the highest-ever recorded in the country. Maruti Suzuki India maintained its position at the top of the domestic volumes chart, followed by Hyundai Motor India and Tata Motors. The top 10 best-selling cars of the month consisted of seven models from Maruti, two from Tata, and one from Hyundai.

The winners were chosen by a jury of 100 international automotive journalists from 32 different countries, who evaluated each eligible vehicle based on their professional work. Among the jury members is Yogendra Pratap, Editor of Auto Today.
Citroen PSA Group's Previous Wins
The Citroen PSA Group has won three World Car Awards to date. Carlos Tavares, CEO of PSA Group, was named the 2020 World Car Person of the Year, while the Citroen C4 Cactus won the 2015 World Car Design of the Year award. The Citroen C4 also won the design title in 2006. The Citroen C3 was a finalist in the World Urban Car category in 2017.
Eligibility for World Urban Car Award
For a car to qualify for the World Urban Car Award, it must be manufactured in a minimum quantity of 5,000 units annually and available for purchase in at least two significant markets on two separate continents. Moreover, the car must have a maximum overall length of 4.25 meters and must be approved for public road use.
