The Indian automobile market has always been dominated by Maruti, and the latest sales figures for March 2023 show that the trend continues. Out of the top 10 highest-selling cars, seven were Maruti models, while Tata and Hyundai managed to grab a spot each with only a few models. With over 17,500 units sold, the Maruti Swift took the top spot from Baleno, which had been leading in February 2023. The Swift’s sales have grown by 29% compared to the same period last year, making it the most popular car in India.
Maruti Wagon R
The Maruti Wagon R closely followed the Swift with sales of over 17,300 units in March 2023. However, its sales have seen a decline of 30% compared to the previous year.
Maruti Brezza
The Maruti Brezza climbed three spots compared to February 2023 and secured the third position with sales in the range of 16,000 to 16,300 units.
Maruti Baleno
The Maruti Baleno lost the top spot and slipped to fourth place in March 2023 with sales of over 16,100 units. However, it remains one of the most popular cars in India.
Tata Nexon
The Tata Nexon took fifth place in March 2023 with sales of over 14,700 units, climbing up from seventh place in February 2023. These sales figures comprise the numbers of both Nexon EV Prime and Nexon EV Max.
Hyundai Creta
The Hyundai Creta witnessed a YoY growth of 33% and crossed the 14,000-unit sales mark, making it one of the best-selling cars in India.
Maruti Dzire
The Maruti Dzire saw a loss in both month-on-month (MoM) and YoY sales with under 13,400 units sold in March 2023.
Maruti Eeco
The Maruti Eeco stood at the same rank as in February 2023, but witnessed a growth in its YoY sales by 30%.
Tata Punch
The Tata Punch secured the ninth spot with sales of 10,894 units in March 2023.
Maruti Grand Vitara
Maruti’s Grand Vitara came at the tenth spot with sales of 10,045 units, making it the last car in the top 10 best-selling cars in India for March 2023.
Maruti continues to dominate the Indian automobile market, with seven out of ten top-selling cars in March 2023 being Maruti models. The sales figures indicate that the demand for Maruti cars remains strong, and they continue to be the most popular cars in India.
